Conservation project for the Winged Victory of Samothrace
and the monumental staircase
Conservation treatment for the Winged Victory of Samothrace and the Daru staircase has begun on September 3, 2013. The project is expected to take more than 18 months to complete and will involve a certain reorganization. The Victory will be unavailable for viewing until Summer 2014.
Opening of the galleries devoted to the East Mediterranean in the Roman Empire
Alongside the inauguration of the new galleries for the Department of Islamic Art this September, the Louvre is also opening new permanent exhibition rooms, located around the Cour Visconti, designed to showcase a collection of artworks representing Late Antiquity in the East Mediterranean basin.
