- Musée Eugène Delacroix

Musée E. Delacroix
© Musée du Louvre
The Musée Eugène Delacroix is situated in the apartment/studio Delacroix moved into in December 1857. Attached to the Louvre since 2004, the museum is home to a broad collection of the French artist's work—paintings, pastels, drawings, lithographs—as well as a substantial body of letters and memorabilia.
Rich in memories—Delacroix died there on August 13, 1863—the museum is also a place where one senses intimate contact with the artist's creative spirit. The studio was built to his specifications and the wide glazed facade giving onto the garden is embellished with moldings of ancient works of art.
The recent renovation of the garden, carried out with the support of the Japanese company Kinoshita, means visitors can now enjoy a haven of peace in the heart of Paris.
The Musée Eugène Delacroix is open every day except Tuesday, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (ticket windows close at 4:30 p.m.).
Location: 6 rue de Furstenberg, 75 006 Paris
Métro: Saint-Germain-des-Prés / Mabillon
Admission: Admission free upon presentation of a ticket to the Louvre (valid on the same day).
