THE GREEK WORLD IN ANTIQUITY

The history of the ancient Greek world spans over a thousand years and covers a vast geographical area extending beyond the borders of present-day Greece. The many artistic centers of the day produced dynamic and innovative art. With the help of an animated map, discover the key dates and locations of the ancient Greek world, illustrated by masterpieces from the collections of the Louvre.

GREEK GODS AND HEROES

This interactive display provides a simple, visual review of the distinguishing features of the principal figures of Greek mythology, such as Aphrodite and Apollo. Gods and heroes can be identified by the attributes, accessories, clothing, and animals associated with them, and that evoke their stories or roles.

THE KRATER OF ANTAEUS, A MASTERPIECE OF GREEK CERAMICS

An interactive display in the Galerie Campana highlights the elements making the Krater of Antaeus a work of particular beauty and quality. The dynamic composition, and the striking depiction of moving bodies on this Greek ceramic vase are a testament to the creativity and great skill of the painter Euphronios. Discover the hidden secrets of this masterpiece of Greek ceramics with the help of the interactive 3-D image facing the work.

Opening hours

Every day (except Tuesday) from 9 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Night opening until 9:45 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Admission

Access with museum entrance ticket: €12. Free admission for visitors under the age of 18, EU residents under the age of 26, teachers with a "Pass Education", job seekers, holders of the Louvre Famille (Family), Louvre Jeunes (Youth) and Louvre Professionnels (Professional) cards, and Amis du Louvre.
