Claude Lévêque. Sous le plus grand chapiteau du monde (partie 2)

Claude Lévêque. Sous le plus grand chapiteau du monde (Partie 2) _ EN

The Louvre has invited Claude Lévêque, a major figure on the international contemporary art scene, to create a site-specific work in its enormous medieval space. With its roots in the avant-gardes of the late 1970s, Lévêque’s work metamorphoses the spaces it occupies. Inspired by the moat and the keep, the artist has designed a self-contained viewing itinerary as a springboard for a narrative. Driven by a concentrated inner energy, Lévêque’s work interacts with the spaces it encounters, triggering a potent combination of evocation and sensation.

Founding Myths. Inaugural exhibition of the Petite Galerie

What is a myth? And how are they portrayed? How are myths passed on to us? How have artists appropriated them? Told, sung, written, and illustrated, myths are a part of all cultures and civilizations, including contemporary popular culture.
Presented in the Petite Galerie throughout the school year, the exhibition “Founding Myths” tells how illustrators, sculptors, painters, puppeteers, filmmakers, and musicians around the world have drawn inspiration from myths, given them form, and brought them to life.
In its desire to make art open to all, the Louvre provides the keys to answer these questions in the Petite Galerie.

The Louvre Introduces Admission with a Single Ticket

Over the past eighteen months, the Louvre has been implementing a new strategy to promote a more comprehensive and cohesive cultural offering, and in particular to create stronger links between temporary exhibitions and permanent collections.
In line with this strategy, as of July 1, 2015 the Louvre will adopt a simplified price list*, already in use in a number of national and international museums, with a single admission ticket giving access to collections and exhibitions. Free access conditions previously restricted to the permanent collections will be extended to exhibitions.
