Schedule of Room Closures

The museum does not have enough staff to keep the entire museum open every day.
Each of the museum's eight departments schedules which of its rooms will be open on which days
.

The museum is closed on Tuesdays.

Near Eastern Antiquities

The rooms of the Department of Near Eastern Antiquities are open every day except Tuesday.
Rooms 12b to 19 (Sully wing, ground floor) will be closed to the public from March 16, 2011 until Spring 2013 during renovation works.

Islamic Art

Due to reorganization works, the Department of Islamic Art has been entirely closed since January 7, 2008. New exhibition rooms for Islamic Art collections are scheduled to open in Summer 2012, in the Cour Visconti.

Egyptian Antiquities

Due to renovation works, rooms A (Roman Egypt), B and C (Coptic Egypt) will be closed until Summer 2012.
All other rooms of the Department are open every day except Tuesday.

Greek, Etruscan, and Roman Antiquities

Rooms 1 to 3 (pre-classical Greece), Denon wing, lower ground floor, will be closed until Summer 2012.
The Galerie Campana (rooms 39 to 44), Sully wing, 1st floor, will be closed until June 2012 during renovation works.
All other rooms of the Department are open every day except Tuesday.
The Venus de Milo is now displayed in room 16.

Sculptures

The rooms of the Department of Sculptures are open every day except Tuesday.

Decorative Arts

The Apollo Gallery (Room of the Crown Diamonds) is open every day except Tuesday.
Rooms 8 to 20 and 27 to 32 (15th-18th centuries) are closed on Friday night openings.
Rooms 75 to 81 (19th century furniture) are closed on Thursdays and on Friday night openings.
Rooms 35 to 61 (17th–18th centuries) are closed for renovation until December 2012.
All other rooms of the Department are open every day except Tuesday.

Paintings, Prints, and Drawings

Richelieu wing
Rooms 4 to 16 (Netherlands, Germany) are closed on Friday night openings.
Rooms A to F (Flanders, Holland, Scandinavia, and Russia) are closed on Thursdays, and on Friday night openings.
Rooms 15 to 31 (Spain, Italy 17th and 18th c.) are closed on Wednesday night openings, on Thursdays (except room 26), and on Friday night openings.
Rooms 32 to 39 (Netherlands, Germany) are closed on Thursdays.
A selection of French 18th-century paintings are currently exhibited in room 17 (Richelieu wing, 2nd floor), until Spring 2013.

Sully wing
Rooms 25 to 35 (France, 14th – 18th c.) are closed for renovation until Spring 2013. As a consequence:
- some of the works formerly displayed in those rooms have been transferred to room 24 (Sully wing, 2nd floor) and to room 17 (Richelieu wing, 2nd floor).
- the Saint Bruno paintings by Eustache Le Sueur formerly in room 24 are not displayed anymore.

Museum staff at the Information Desks will be happy to provide further information about the works currently on display. Thank you for your understanding.
All other rooms of the Department are open every day except Tuesday.

History of the Louvre

The rooms devoted to the history of the Louvre are closed on Wednesday and Friday night openings, and on Thursdays.

Arts and Civilizations of Africa, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas

The rooms devoted to the Arts and Civilizations of Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas are open every day except Tuesday and Friday.

Practical information

The Louvre is open every day (except Tuesday) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Night opening until 9:45 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays
Closed on the following holidays: January 1, May 1, December 25
