William Hogarth (1697-1764)

Suitable for disabled visitors  Suitable for children

William Hogarth was the most popular English artist of his time.

Painter, engraver, moralist, theoretician and philanthropist, he was engaged in the political and artistic battles of his era. He gained international success for his series of images that reveal a remarkable graphic creativity in which he satirized social and moral vices among individuals encountered in everyday life.
