Cour Puget, France

The sculpture on the lower level adorned a monument to Louis XIV on the place des Victoires in Paris. The display features outdoor statuary from the royal parks (Versailles, the Tuileries), stately homes, and the inner court of a Paris mansion. Of particular note are Pierre Puget's dynamic, large-scale works in marble. The works on the upper level, such as Duseigneur's Orlando Furioso and Barye's Lion Crushing a Serpent, show how the lyricism and passion of the Romantic movement also found expression in monumental sculpture.
