Cour Carrée

Many renowned architects were involved in the construction of the Cour Carrée. Pierre Lescot's Renaissance facade, the oldest in the Louvre, was commissioned by François I shortly before his death in 1545. The decorative sculpture by Jean Goujon pays homage to the French sovereign.
