The Venus de Milo Gallery

This statue of the Greek goddess of love, discovered on the island of Melos in 1820, is justly famous for its skilled rendering of the female form, imbued with sensuality and nobility. The twisting torso and raised left leg reveal a new interest in the sculptural representation of movement.
