Several construction projects are currently underway in the museum, significantly affecting the visitor experience in the Louvre’s most popular rooms. Consequently, visitors will no longer be able to access some artworks.
Further information about the renovations
 

  • Salle des États (Denon wing, 1st floor, room 711): works from January 8 to November 2019.
    Open to the public
    The Salle des États, which houses the Mona Lisa, is undergoing renovations. Visitors will be able to see the Mona Lisa in its glass display case, but all other works in this room are unavailable for viewing.
    Unavailable works include:
    -         Veronese’s Wedding Feast at Cana
    -         Tintoretto’s Paradise
    -         Titian's Man with a Glove
    -         Titian’s Pastoral Concert
     
  • Salle Daru (Denon wing, 1st floor, room 702).
    Room closed until November 2019
    Unavailable works include:
    -         David’s Coronation of Napoleon
    -         David’s Oath of the Horatii
    -         Girodet’s Entombment of Atala
     
  • Galerie d’Apollon (Denon wing, 1st floor, room 705).
    Room closed from March to December 2019
    Unavailable works include:
    -         The Crown diamond and jewel collection
     
  • Etruscan and Italic collections (Sully wing, 1st floor, rooms 660 to 663 and room 650; Denon wing, ground floor, rooms 420, 421 and 423).
    Rooms closed from April 2019 to January 2021
     
  • Mastaba chapel (Sully wing, ground floor, rooms 332 and 333).
    Rooms closed until July 2020
     

 

Practical information

The Louvre is open every day (except Tuesday) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Night opening until 9:45 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Free admission on the first Saturday of each month
from 6 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.

 
Closed on the following holidays: January 1, May 1, December 25
