The Mona Lisa Temporarily on Display in the Galerie Médicis
To ensure the smooth progress of renovations in the Salle des États and maintain optimal visiting conditions, the Musée du Louvre has decided to temporarily transfer the Mona Lisa to the Galerie Médicis (room 801, level 2, Richelieu wing). The painting will remain there from July 17 until work in the Salle des États is completed mid-October 2019.
Building and Grounds Renovation Projects 2019-2021
Several construction projects are currently underway in the museum, significantly affecting the visitor experience in the Louvre’s most popular rooms. Consequently, visitors will no longer be able to access some artworks.

Tribute to I. M. Pei
The Musée du Louvre’s President-Director Jean-Luc Martinez and the entire staff of the museum wish to express their great sadness and deepest regret at the passing of I. M. Pei. A visionary architect who enjoyed an exceptionally rich and long career, Pei followed in the footsteps of acclaimed architects who have shaped the palace since the 12th century, leaving an indelible mark on the museum with his work that boldly took the Louvre into the modern era.
