Exhibition Classical TasteGraphic Arts During the Reign of Louis XVI

from September 29, 2005 to January 2, 2006

Seventy works (drawings and prints) highlight the aesthetic canons of classicism. In the age of Louis XVI, classical ideology was an emblem of modernity, related to the social and political demands made by the people in the last decades of the ancien régime.

Organized by: Pascal Torres-Guardiola, curator in the Department of Prints and Drawings of the Musée du Louvre, in charge of the Edmond de Rothschild Collection.
