The exhibition “Voyages” features a varied selection of artworks, chosen by Philippe Djian from the collections of several curatorial departments at the Louvre. It provides a forum for comparing artworks along a number of recurring themes, a source of reflection—and sometimes inspiration—for the author.
There are many ways to approach an artwork. Here, the forms, techniques, ancientness and contemporaneity of the pieces were explored—despite the differences in context, era and creative will of the artists who produced them—solely on the basis of a coherent set that examines more than analyzes a relationship of the man, author and artist to travel.
Happily losing yourself in the Musée du Louvre's labyrinthine collections as you follow Philippe Djian’s proposed itinerary—that is the aim of the exhibition.
