The Musée du Louvre is an EPA, or Etablissement Public Administratif, a status that gives it administrative autonomy. Although the museum is largely financed by the state, it also relies on other sources of income, which make up more than a third of its budget. The Musée du Louvre relies on the generosity of its patrons and donors to carry out many of its missions and projects.
