Did you know?
The Ring-necked Parakeet was introduced to France in the 1970s with individuals that escaped captivity or were released.
The first breeding pair in Paris was observed in 2008, and the French League for the Protection of Birds (LPO) estimated its Ile-de-France region population at around 8,000 individuals in 2021. Despite this increase, the species has not had any significant negative impact on other bird populations in the Ile-de-France region to date.
