Yves Saint Laurent at the Louvre

29 January – 19 September 2022

On 29 January 1962, Yves Saint Laurent launched the first collection of the haute couture house he had newly founded with Pierre Bergé. To mark the sixtieth anniversary of this momentous event in the world of fashion and design, the Fondation Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent has asked several museums to feature works by the great couturier alongside their permanent collections. Indeed, Yves Saint Laurent was a keen museum-goer and a discerning art lover. The Louvre is part of this unique event.

Highlighting the wealth of influences that inspired Yves Saint Laurent and showcasing the finest in French craftsmanship, a select number of exceptional garments will be on display in the Galerie d’Apollon, one of the Louvre palace’s most prestigious spaces, designed by Charles Le Brun for King Louis XIV.

‘Yves Saint Laurent aux musées’, organised in conjunction with the Fondation Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent, the Musée d’Orsay, the Centre Pompidou, the Musée Picasso-Paris, the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris.
