❄️ Ce paysage décrit le site spectaculaire sur l’île de Magerøya, comté de Finnmark (Norvège). Il est à dater du séjour de Peder Balke à Paris où le peintre s’installa fin 1846, dans le but de rencontrer le roi Louis-Philippe Ier en personne pour lui présenter des paysages évoquant le voyage que, jeune prince exilé à cause de la Révolution française, ce dernier avait effectué dans le Nord de la Norvège en 1795.
