Public engagement

By giving to the Louvre, individual donors can help the museum to share its collections with the world. Donations contribute to the Louvre's core missions: conserving, sharing, enriching and studying the museum's world-class collections.

ACQUISITIONS AND CONSERVATION TREATMENTS

The Louvre's mission does not consist solely of exhibiting works of art: it also includes preserving works for future generations, and growing the collections.

Acquiring works helps to complete, diversify and expand the French national collections, guaranteeing that these works can be preserved and passed on.

Conservation work is key in ensuring that fragile pieces, whether paintings, drawings, sculptures, or other objects, do not deteriorate. It requires specialised expertise and substantial financial resources.

By supporting conservation work, you are directly helping to preserve irreplaceable pieces of cultural heritage and facilitating the scientific and technical research that makes these undertakings possible.

Your support allows the museum to continue to serve the public by making sure that its collection remains accessible and a source of learning and inspiration for all.

EXHIBITIONS

The Louvre's temporary exhibitions create singular dialogues between the museum's collection and works on loan from other major museums and private collections. They offer visitors a fresh perspective and showcase the curatorial and scientific work carried out by the Louvre's teams.

Organising temporary exhibitions requires significant resources and often includes research, the negotiation of loan agreements, transport, exhibition design and public outreach.

Your support makes it possible to carry out ambitious projects that enrich the museum's programming and reach a wider audience.

Your support can also extend to the scholarly publications associated with each exhibition, which contribute to the dissemination of knowledge and highlight the value of the research work carried out by our teams.
