🌎 Today, on the the occasion of #Greco’s Day, we would like to share with you one of his paintings on display at the Louvre: “Saint Louis, King of France, and a Page”. ⚜️
    -
🎨 Painted in Toledo between 1590 and 1597, this work bears all the stylistic hallmarks of El Greco's late sixteenth-century work. Saint Louis is depicted with a wistful expression and only the orange drapery brightens up the austere figure. We can recognize him thanks to the attributes of royal power: the hand of justice, the crown and the sceptre with fleur-de-lys’ ornaments.
