The Sculpture Discovery Area

Come explore the Sculpture Discovery Area, a place for everyone to learn about the history of sculpture, from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, at the heart of Denon wing. It’s a multisensory experience – touch the sculptures, enjoy stories with animations, and listen to the artworks tell their stories in their own words.

The Sculpture Discovery Area covers three main subjects:

  • materials and where they’re found,
  • the sculptor’s workshop, and
  • the functions of sculpture.

Open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, this space is accessible to all! Visitors can touch casts of artworks, enjoy Braille museum labels, manipulate various materials, listen to audio narratives, or watch animations for a self-guided visit like no other.
