In the Tuileries Garden, two types of pigeon coexist: Common Wood Pigeons and Feral Pigeons.

Looking closely, Common Wood Pigeons have a white neck patch and yellow beak, while Feral Pigeons have a black beak and white rump patch.

Did you know?

Wood Pigeons have long been present in the Tuileries. As early as 1879, the naturalist Jules Pelletan wrote: ‘Everyone knows the Common Wood Pigeons of the Tuileries, which have been breeding in this garden for many generations, sheltered from all attacks.’
