Distinguishing features: orange chest and face, brown-green, grey, white
Habitat: hedged and wooded countryside (including parks and gardens)
Diet: insects, and more occasionally, seeds and fruits
Status: Least Concern in the Ile-de-France region
Nesting period: April to July

Seen in the garden

You can easily catch sight of it near the gardeners when they’re working the soil of the flower beds. This small passerine takes advantage of the gardeners’ activity to capture insects living in the soil.
