Did you know?
The estate’s proximity to the Seine allows wintering water bird populations to easily move back and forth between the Tuileries Garden’s ornamental ponds and the river.
This species, generally associated with the coast, has been breeding in urban areas since the 1970s (and in Paris since the 1990s). French cities host up to 20,000 pairs. In the city, they mainly nest on flat gravel roofs and zinc roofs.
